The transplant team at the UPMC Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplantation Center (IRTC) collaborates with referring physicians to ensure optimal continuity of patient care.

This partnership begins at the time of referral and continues throughout your patient’s stay in the hospital and long after discharge.

Partnering for Life

  • Throughout the intestinal transplant process, a member of the transplant team will continually update you about your patient’s progress.
  • After transplant, patients receive postoperative care from our intestinal transplant surgeons.
  • Anytime — before, during, or after your patient's intestinal transplant — we're available for consults 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
