Select Specialty Hospital—Pittsburgh/UPMC is a long-term, acute-care facility that was established at UPMC Montefiore in December 2003 as a hospital within a hospital. Recently, ownership of the hospital was transferred to Select UPMC Pittsburgh. 

The Department of Critical Care Medicine provides hospitalist coverage for patients receiving mechanical ventilation, weaning, nutritional support, and treatment of pneumonia and other infections at this institution.
