About the UPMC Concussion Network

The UPMC Concussion Network is a first-of-its-kind coalition of health care organizations across geographies. Led by world-renowned concussion expert, Micky Collins, PhD, UPMC’s concussion program is the foundation for developing consensus-driven and evidence based treatment pathways worldwide. By standardising treatment worldwide, the UPMC Concussion Network will demonstrate that concussions, when managed properly, are treatable injuries.

Why Choose UPMC for Concussion Care?

Athletes and non-athletes alike evaluated by the UPMC Concussion Network will undergo a comprehensive evaluation of their injury to uncover the diverse array of symptoms that can occur after a concussion. Our network experts:

  • Conduct a thorough clinical interview of the patient’s injury and symptoms, including a vestibular-oculomotor screening
  • Interpret ImPACT® baseline and post-injury test results
  • Create an individualised treatment and recovery plan
About ImPACT® Concussion Testing

ImPACT® (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is a non-invasive, software-based physical examination of the brain co-developed by UPMC concussion experts. This tool objectively measures and tracks cognitive changes associated with a concussion, including:

  • Memory
  • Reaction Time
  • Speed
  • Concentration
ImPACT® is a scientifically-validated test based on currently accepted international guidelines and practices. For more information, visit the ImPACT® website.
