UPMC is transforming the delivery of health care through the convergence of clinical practice and information technologies. The American Hospital Association has named UPMC to the list of “100 Most Wired” health systems in the United States for the past eight years.

The organization has an agreement with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals to install electronic medical record applications. UPMC Technology Development Center

As health care continues to evolve with technology being the growth catalyst, the Technology Development Center (TDC) is a key strategic initiative for the future success of UPMC.
 
The TDC analyzes new and existing technology investment opportunities and facilitates synergies across them to pursue a new vision for health care innovation. The center strives to make strategic investments in technology that will rectify health care’s biggest challenge of aggregating and translating an abundance of data into knowledge.

To achieve this mission, the TDC brings UPMC’s unique blend of health care intelligence, technology expertise, and entrepreneurial drive to build collaborative opportunities with its commercial and academic partners.

The TDC is also the home of academic technology investments and earlier stage opportunities.
 
As UPMC aggressively and creatively pursues innovation and expansion, the TDC will remain a focal point for execution.
