As part of UPMC’s commitment to quality, we are now using a web-based tool called Crimson™ to better understand and manage the care we provide to patients.
Crimson combines business intelligence, data, and analytics to examine such key health care indicators as readmission rates, lengths of stay, and patient safety events — not only by hospital, but also by doctor, service line, and disease.
That data can then be compared to results at more than 1,200 other hospitals nationwide that use Crimson, including those within UPMC’s hospital system.
By sharing and comparing data, we can look for best practices and improve quality while delivering patient-centered care that is efficient and compassionate.
