UPMC Center for Inclusion

Inclusion in Health Care

The Center for Inclusion at UPMC — built on a foundation of inclusion in the workplace and cultural competencies in patient and family care — serves as a resource center for UPMC employees, business partners, and residents in the communities where we live and work.

We seek to leverage the diversity of our customers, community, company, and culture by promoting an environment of inclusion. We realize there are a multitude of differences that define inclusion. It is only when those differences are valued and appreciated that a good organization becomes a great one. By ensuring that inclusion is at the core of what we do every day, UPMC will not only be a great company and community citizen, but also a great place to work.

We work better when all of us work together. Inclusion means every person is valued, and all contributions are welcomed. At UPMC, inclusion begins with the core belief that everyone deserves dignity and respect. The Center for Inclusion at UPMC inspires a culture of collaboration throughout our company and within the communities we serve, all based on the simple idea that inclusion matters—to all of us, every day.

“History shows that diversity for its own sake isn’t the surest path to inclusion. Inclusion, however, is the surest path to diversity.”

Candi Castleberry-Singleton, Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer, UPMC
