UPMC’s annual Quality Symposium is now the Dr. Loren Roth UPMC Quality and Patient Safety Symposium, named in honor of Loren Roth, MD, MPH, UPMC’s former senior vice president for Quality Care and chief medical officer.

About the Symposium

The 2008 Dr. Loren Roth UPMC Quality and Patient Safety Symposium, presented by the UPMC Center for Quality Improvement and Innovation, will be held September 26, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport. The theme for the symposium is “An Extraordinary Experience Every Time.” Speakers will focus on the ways that every patient’s hospital experience, from the first encounter with staff at admission to the way his or her family members are treated, can be made extraordinary in every way. The keynote speaker is Alan Green, formerly senior vice president for administration and operations of the UPMC Physician Services Division.

Learning Labs

The 2008 Symposium will feature three exciting learning laboratory options: “The Patient Voice” (a two-part series); a UPMC Health Plan records presentation coupled with “Making Wishes Come True”; and “Difficult Conversations” coupled with "Health Information Exchange: The Cornerstone to Quality Care."
