Unique Opportunities for Respiratory Therapists

Overseas Opportunities

Develop lasting friendships, and share experiences and knowledge, while learning firsthand how other countries practice respiratory care.

UPMC respiratory therapists can complete rotations — lasting between three and six months — at ISMETT, a specialty transplant hospital in Palermo, Italy.

Community Opportunities

Each year, several UPMC respiratory therapists attend week-long summer camps for children with asthma or who are vent-dependent. The therapists and other staff are counselors and care providers.

UPMC also supports therapist participation in:

  • National and international medical relief organizations
  • Community health fairs
  • Career days at local high schools
