International Opportunities

Your Career — On a Global Scale

UPMC offers exciting opportunities for executive, information technology, and health care professionals to live and work abroad while taking their careers to the next level. By introducing new technologies, advancing patient care standards, and contributing to cutting-edge health care research, UPMC employees are helping to transform the landscape of health care delivery globally.

Beginning with ISMETT, a transplant center in Palermo, Sicily, in 1997, UPMC’s international presence has grown to include two health care facilities — UPMC Beacon Hospital and Whitfield Cancer Centre in Ireland.

Opportunities for professional advancement include research fellowships in biomedicine and biotechnology with the Ri.MED Foundation, an international partnership among the Italian government, the University of Pittsburgh, and UPMC.

"The progressive environment at Beacon Hospital provides me with opportunities to practice quality, caring nursing. As a nursing professional, it is a pleasure to practice in such a supportive environment. This is one of the best career moves I have made."

Paula Vernon – RN, Emergency Department, UPMC Beacon Hospital, Ireland
