UPMC St. Margaret and UPMC Shadyside have achieved Magnet™ designation, the highest national recognition for nursing excellence and leadership, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This designation, received by less than 6 percent of hospitals nationwide, is evidence that these hospitals demonstrate commitment to excellence in every aspect of nursing care and leadership.

Pamela Donovan, RN, MSN, director of Inpatient Nursing at UPMC St. Margaret, was recognized by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). Her poster presentation, “Using an Electronic Health Record to Address Findings of Post Resuscitation Committee in a Community Hospital,” was awarded first place at the AONE conference, in April 2008, in Seattle.
