The Hillman Cancer Center is the flagship facility in the UPMC Cancer Centers network and home of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Additionally, there are more than 40 network community sites covering a geographic area of more than 200 miles around greater Pittsburgh.

Description

UPMC Cancer Centers, one of the largest integrated community networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country, allows patients to receive the highest level of cancer care without having to leave their communities. Together, UPMC Cancer Centers and University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute offer patients the latest advances in cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment.

The facilities encompass many areas of expertise, each focusing on a specific type or treatment of cancer. These include a world-renowned melanoma program, as well as programs devoted to brain cancers, breast cancer, colon and gastrointestinal cancers, head and neck cancers, leukemias and lymphomas, liver cancer, lung cancer, gynecologic cancers, pediatric cancers, prostate and urologic cancers, and stem cell transplantation.

UPMC Cancer Centers nurses have the opportunity to contribute to innovative oncology care in the region.

We offer nurses opportunities in various subspecialties of cancer including medical oncology, radiation oncology, and research.

Many educational opportunities are available to nurses. Programs are offered to accommodate a variety of schedules, which include online courses. Our nurses also are encouraged to seek oncology certification. Certification review courses are offered regularly and nurses are reimbursed for the test upon passing the exam.

Before your interview

  • If you have questions or need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, contact our Human Resources Department  at 412-235-1151 or nurse recruiter.
  • Your interview will be held on-site at the facility to which you are applying.
  • When scheduling your interview, inquire about your parking options for the day. If  there is a parking fee, bring your ticket to the interview so that it may be validated.
  • You are encouraged to bring copies of your resume as you will be meeting with several nursing and administrative staff that day.

After accepting an offer

  • Your first day will be Human Resources new hire orientation. This is held at the UPMC Cancer Pavilion located on UPMC Shadyside’s campus. This consists of information about benefits, safety, infection control practices, and compliance procedures. Dress is business casual.
