With a medical staff of more than 400 pediatricians and pediatric specialists, Children’s Hospital is the only medical center in western Pennsylvania dedicated solely to caring for infants, children, and young adults. The new Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Lawrenceville campus offers private rooms with space for two parents or family members to stay overnight.
Nursing highlights
Our pediatric nurses are supported educationally, beginning with our Blend Graduate Nurse Residency Program and continuing with 150 courses available online through the Children’s Hospital Knowledge Exchange System, as well as a variety of on-site courses associated with trauma, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, basic life support, pediatric advanced life support, sedation, and other pediatric-specific topics.
Our professional nurses have an active voice in their practice through shared governance, choosing to participate in the Practice, Quality, Service, or Education/Research/Professional Development Councils supporting the nursing division.
