UPMC Mercy is an adult tertiary hospital. A variety of specialties are available at UPMC Mercy including medical-surgical progressive care, critical care, trauma and burn, rehabilitation, behavioral health, emergency care, labor and delivery, perioperative, radiology, and cardiology.

Nursing highlights

Nursing practice at UPMC Mercy is driven through shared governance councils, with unit representation from all areas. Nursing staff have the opportunity to participate in shared governance councils, which include the Professional Practice Council and Quality and Education. In addition, nursing staff participate in and lead patient satisfaction initiatives throughout the facility under the Values in Practice structure. Through various committees within this faith-based facility, nurses are provided with the opportunity to network, exchange clinical expertise, collaborate, and build high energy teams.

Before your interview

  • If you have questions or need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, contact our Human Resources Department at 412-232-7971 or nurse recruiter.
  • On the day of your interview, parking is available in the garage on Locust Street. Bring your parking ticket so that we may validate your parking.
  • Proceed to Human Resources on the second floor of St Anne’s Center, located next to the garage.
  • Dress is business casual or a uniform.
  • Your interview will include meeting with the nurse recruiter and unit director(s). You also will complete a written mission and values interview, and an authorization for background checks. Bring names and contact information for three supervisory references.

After accepting an offer

  • You will receive a new hire packet in the mail that includes information as well as where and when to report for your first day of orientation.
  • Your first day will be Human Resources new hire orientation. This consists of information about benefits, safety, infection control practices, and compliance procedures. Dress is business casual.
