Who Can Apply to Nursing School at St. Margaret?

To apply to our nursing program, you need only a high school diploma or GED.

Students should also be aware that certain felony convictions will make them ineligible for licensure and therefore they will be unable to work as a nurse. Please direct any concerns to the PA State Board of Nursing (717-783-7142 or, before continuing the application process.

How Do I Apply to St. Margaret School of Nursing?

It's easy to apply to the St. Margaret School of Nursing.

Step 1. Take TEAS test

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), is the only admissions test score accepted by the UPMC Schools of Nursing. In order to be considered for admission, you must score proficient, advanced, or exemplary on the TEAS test.​

Upon meeting the TEAS qualifications, applicant must submit scores to Amanda Garrity. The prospective student will have the option to:

Step 3. Send transcripts

  • Send us both high school and any post-secondary education official transcripts. Using the transcript request form (PDF), your schools will send the transcripts upon paying any applicable fees.
  • If you earned your GED, please send a copy directly to the school.

St. Margaret School of Nursing may award credit for certain coursework you've already completed. See our transfer credit policy (PDF).

When Should I Apply to St. Margaret School of Nursing?

The school has a rolling admissions policy. This means you may submit an application anytime throughout the year.

The application due date for the Fall full-time Day 2017 class would be June 1, 2017. Be sure that we receive all application materials before that date.
