Erie Physicians Network Receives 2015 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Outstanding Performance in Patient Experience

ERIE – Nov. 11, 2015 – UPMC Hamot is pleased to announce that the Erie Physicians Network-UPMC (EPN) has been named a 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in patient experience.

EPN, Erie's largest independent multispecialty physician group, joined the UPMC Physician Services Division and its team of more than 2,800 physicians in November 2011. Currently, board-certified physicians and providers from various medical specialties that include primary care, rheumatology, podiatry, gastroenterology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation make up EPN and provide top-quality care to more than 35,000 patients from throughout Erie County. In addition, EPN-UPMC operates and manages two Urgent Care centers in the Erie area.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5 percent of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.
“The Guardian of Excellence Award represents an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience,” said EPN President Philip Cacchione, DO. “We’re pleased to share this with our many dedicated employees who also contributed to this nationally recognized award.”
"We are proud to partner with EPN,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey. “This award is a testament to the organization’s leadership in delivering patient-centered care. By achieving and sustaining this level of excellence, EPN demonstrates their commitment to advancing the overall quality of health care.”
