The UPMC Hamot Endoscopy Department received designation in 2023 by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program. The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program honors endoscopy units that meet rigorous quality and safety criteria, which includes following the ASGE guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, CDC infection control, and endoscopy staff competency. UPMC Hamot is one of only 23 facilities in Pennsylvania with this recognition.
