Cardiac ER and Chest Pain Center at UPMC Hamot

UPMC Hamot’s Cardiac ER is staffed with a dedicated heart emergency response team specially trained for the aggressive diagnosis and treatment of heart attack (myocardial infarction).

Cardiologists are on site around the clock, every day of the week, for the continuous availability of emergency catheterization and angioplasty.

Additional staff members of the Cardiac ER include:

  • Emergency medicine doctors and nurses
  • Intensivists — doctors who specialize in treating people with critical illnesses or injuries
  • Cardiovascular surgeons
  • Catheterization lab technicians
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Transfer center personnel

Certified Chest Pain Center

Currently, UPMC Hamot is the only Certified Chest Pain Center in the Erie region.

This exceptional designation is granted to hospitals that closely follow recommendations to improve and save lives from the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology.
