​Medical Staff Scholarship Trustees Begin Accepting Applications Feb. 15

FARRELL AND GREENVILLE, February 4, 2013– The trustees of the UPMC Horizon Medical Staff Scholarship Fund are accepting applications between Friday, Feb. 15, and Monday, April 15.

Students from UPMC Horizon's service area who have successfully completed their first year of an allopathic or osteopathic medical school are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

The scholarship originated in 1969, when Greenville Regional Hospital physicians contributed income from school health examinations to a fund. This money, along with contributions from the Greenville Regional Hospital Surgical Department Hasenplug Fund, established the tradition of awarding medical staff scholarships annually to medical students from the local area.
