UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital welcomes volunteers from the community through our Volunteer Services Department. Volunteers regularly give of their time and resources to enhance the patient experience and quality of life at Magee. Among the areas in which members volunteer are:

  • Emergency Room
  • Adult ICU
  • Lactation Center
  • Oncology
  • Women's Cancer Center
  • Gift Shop

Volunteers complete an online application, submit 2 letters of reference, attend orientation, provide proof of TB test and flu shot (during flu season), along with required clearances (adult/college age) before beginning their volunteer assignment. For more information, call 412-641-4185.

Summer Junior Volunteer Program

The Junior Volunteer Program at Magee is a summer program for youths. Junior Volunteers are between 15 and 17 years of age as of June 15 and commit to 20 hours of volunteer time over the summer. The program provides young people with exposure to careers in the healthcare field. In order to participate in the program, a parental permission form must be signed and returned prior to being accepted.
