Pathology at Magee

Overview

The Department of Pathology provides comprehensive laboratory services in the areas of clinical laboratory medicine, cytology and surgical pathology to support patient care and treatment. Our staff includes 19 faculty and over 120 employees who generate nearly one million test results annually.

The Department is licensed by both federal (CMS) and state (Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of Laboratories) agencies and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

Location and Hours

Our Outpatient Laboratory service is located in the first floor lobby of the hospital. Patients with written doctor’s orders for laboratory testing may use this service for specimen collection.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

No appointment is necessary except for glucose tolerance testing (GTT); patients should call 412-641-4965 to schedule an appointment for this test.
