A Message from Our President

Welcome to UPMC Mercy, where our very name reflects the spirit of our calling and the special promise of our care.

We take great pride in being part of UPMC’s nationally ranked health care system, which enables us to offer outstanding, life-changing medicine that is rooted in innovation and service excellence.

As the region’s only Catholic hospital, we also have been entrusted with continuing the great spiritual and social mission of our founders, the Sisters of Mercy. While the health care needs of our community have changed dramatically since they began their ministry in 1847, the need for faith-based care remains just as valid and compelling now as it was then.

Every day, the work of our doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff demonstrates the power of faith in action: serving God through excellence in medicine, service, and compassionate care. Whatever your faith — whether you are a patient, visitor, or employee — at UPMC Mercy you will be welcomed and valued with dignity and respect. You have our promise that we will always strive to ensure the quality of life and spiritual well-being of our patients, their families, our staff, and our community.

Yours sincerely,

Michael A. Grace
President, UPMC Mercy
