UPMC Mercy Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is vital to helping heart and lung patients recover from surgery or chronic disease. It helps to promote better health choices, improve quality of life, and reduce the risk of future problems.

UPMC Mercy is part of the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation network of services offered by the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and UPMC Comprehensive Lung Center. Our services are provided at the conveniently located UPMC Mercy Green Tree Outpatient Center, an all-new, state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility serving Pittsburgh’s South Hills.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our cardiac rehabilitation service is a doctor-prescribed exercise program designed to strengthen your heart muscle and physical endurance.

Our specialized team of cardiac care professionals will create a tailored treatment plan of action for your specific needs. They will work to ensure that you have the knowledge, tools, and support you need to recover from a heart procedure or effectively manage chronic heart disease.

You’ll learn how to develop a healthy lifestyle through:

  • Exercise
  • Proper nutrition
  • Smoking cessation
  • Control of other risk factors

Your doctor may refer you for cardiac rehabilitation if you have had:

You’ll also receive healthy lifestyle support including nutritional counseling, stress management, and smoking cessation techniques.
