UPMC Northwest is looking for volunteers who desire to be of service, have compassionate hearts, and who will support us in carrying on our mission of compassionate care for the sick and suffering.

Volunteers include adults who may be retirees, homemakers, businesspeople, parents, and grandparents — anyone with talents to share. Weekday, morning, and afternoon shifts are open. College students also are welcome.

Volunteer Requirements at UPMC Northwest

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Attend orientation where a volunteer coordinator will match your interests and schedule with the hospital's needs.
  • Submit required paperwork provided by Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Have a valid Social Security Number.

We Accept Donated Items

Donated items are on hold due to COVID restrictions.

For our patients and their families to use while in the hospital, we always accept new or gently used:

  • Magazines
  • Handmade hats and scarves for cancer patients
