UPMC Passavant Children's House Toddlers Program

The Toddlers Program is based upon supporting the child during the transition from infancy to young child. Three components — adult, materials, and environment — are joined together to foster the needs of the toddler in all areas of development.

Age Range

Young toddlers room: Approximately 18 to 28 months old.
Older toddlers room : Approximately 28 months to 3 years old.
Children move to the young toddlers room at around 18 months and stay there until they are about 26 to 28 months old. They then move to the older toddlers room, where they stay until they are between 3 and 3-and-a-half years old and move to preschool

Daily Activities

The daily routine provides a balance of activities as well as a consistent sequence of events for the children to follow.
Activities are planned in several areas to promote learning of basic skills, with an emphasis on self-help, social development, and language development.

Daily Activities include:

  • Walks
  • Trips to the playground
  • Visits to the indoor gym
