Our team of cardiovascular surgeons and experts provides an individualized approach for each patient, presenting treatment options, benefits and risks, and recommendations based on the patient’s condition. Procedures include heart valve surgery, angioplasty, and bypass surgery.
In place of traditional bypass surgery, the transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure is specifically desirable for higher-risk patients. Rather than requiring a heart-lung machine during surgery, the TAVR procedure implants an artificial aortic valve inside a patient’s faulty valve, reducing risks associated with bypass surgery and providing an innovative alternative to traditional bypass surgery.
For patients with AFib not caused by a heart valve problem, the WATCHMAN heart implant device can help prevent and reduce the risk of strokes. During a one-time, minimally invasive surgery, the quarter-sized device is implanted in the left atrial appendage and helps to prevent blood clots from moving to the brain and causing a stroke.
