UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital not only provides patients with research-based psychiatric care, but:

• Houses the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, an academic and training resource center for the next generation of clinicians and researchers.
• Offers realistic crisis training for behavioral health, health care, and public safety professionals.
• Trains student assistance professionals in elementary, middle, and secondary schools.

We continually strive to refine our training programs to expose students and trainees to contemporary theories and practices associated with the changing medical care environment.
