UPMC to Expand Ear, Nose and Throat Care to Monroeville in August

PITTSBURGH, July 28, 2010 – University Ear Nose & Throat Specialists, the clinical practice of the UPMC Department of Otolaryngology, will soon open a new office at UPMC at Daugherty Drive in Monroeville. Beginning Aug. 5, the location will offer general ear, nose and throat care; allergy testing; audiology and hearing aid services; and a division of sleep surgery.

“Being ranked as the No. 3 otolaryngology program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, our specialized services are unmatched anywhere else in western Pennsylvania and soon will offer a location more convenient to those residing east of Pittsburgh,” said Jonas Johnson, M.D., chair of the Department of Otolaryngology at UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. “We are excited to offer our knowledge and expertise in ear, nose and throat care to the Monroeville area.”

Experts based at the new location will be able to diagnose and treat a broad range of ear, nose and throat-related conditions, including sinusitis, ear infections, snoring, sleep apnea and sleep-disordered breathing, as well as fit patients for hearing devices and offer allergy testing and shots.

The new location’s staff will include Andrea Lewis, M.D., general otolaryngologist; Ryan Soose, M.D., otolaryngologist specializing in sleep disorders; and Claire Tempel, audiologist.

The address of the University Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists’ UPMC at Daugherty Drive location is Suite 400, 125 Daugherty Dr., Monroeville. Standard office hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening hours will be available as well.
