
UPMC’s Center for Integrative Medicine to Host Second Annual Holistic Medicine Workshop
PITTSBURGH, March 18, 2011 - The second annual Amy Stine Workshop on Holistic Medicine will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday, April 2 at the Herberman Conference Center at UPMC Shadyside Hospital and is open to both the public and medical professionals. The event is sponsored by the UPMC Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM), the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and the family of the late Amy Ruth Stine, M.D.
Lectures on topics ranging from nutrition and healthy living to fibromyalgia and green living will be the focus of the day-long workshop. This year’s event will offer two separate courses simultaneously, with lectures designed for either medical professionals or consumers.
Keynote speaker will be Benjamin Kigler, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of family and social medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and vice chair and research director of the Beth Israel Department of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Kigler will present, “Environmental Medicine: Strategies for Patient Care,” to the medical audience at 8:15 a.m., and “Environmental Health: The Benefits of Going Green,” to the community audience at 12:30 p.m.
Course fees are $50 for the public, $20 for students and $75 for medical professionals receiving continuing education credits. Breakfast and lunch are included and discounted parking is available at the UPMC Shadyside parking garage at Centre Ave.

Dr. Amy Stine was a holistic family physician in the Pittsburgh area with a private practice addressing body, mind and spirit. This workshop is offered in her memory and provides healing concepts for both medical professionals and the public.
