The 2012 Hillman Cancer Center Gala: ‘A Future Without Cancer’

WHAT: “A Future Without Cancer,” a donor recognition and fundraising gala to benefit the Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC CancerCenter and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI)
 
WHO: Over 900 of the region’s leaders and longtime supporters of the Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC CancerCenter and UPCI will be recognized for their philanthropic generosity on behalf of these organizations. 
 
Gala leadership includes: 
 
• Elsie & Henry Hillman, honorary co-chairs
• Cathy & Sy Holzer, honorary co-chairs
• Christina & Carlos Cardoso, gala co-chairs
• Becky & John Surma, gala co-chairs
 
Chris Mann, finalist on the NBC hit television series “The Voice,” and renowned trumpeter Benny Benack will provide the evening’s entertainment.
 
This year’s gala is being presented by PNC.
 
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 14, 2012
5:30 p.m., cocktail reception
6:30 to 9:30 p.m., dinner and entertainment
 
WHERE: Consol Energy Center, 1001 Fifth Ave., Downtown
 
WHY: One in every two people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. UPCI and the UPMC CancerCenter are focused on treatments for all types and stages of cancer, with an emphasis on personalizing cancer care to ensure that each patient receives the prevention, detection and treatment strategies that are most appropriate for him or her.
 
Support of the Gala helps provide crucial funding for the research that one day may prevent or cure cancer.
