Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC to Host 10th Annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Reunion at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

WHAT: A reunion of children who have beaten the odds. A celebration of survival and quality of life for 200 former Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients, their families and the Magee NICU nursing and clinical staff who cared for them.

WHO:

 

  • 200 former Magee NICU babies who currently are ranging in age from 4 months to teenage years
  • Magee NICU nursing and clinical staff Family members
  • Zoo critters and baby zoo animals
  • Magee’s “Maggie the Stork” mascot 
  • Eat’n Park Smiley Cookie mascot 
  • Panera Bagel mascot

WHEN: Reunion hours from 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 3; reunion photo to take place at 2 p.m. in the PNC Pavilion

WHERE: Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, PNC Pavilion (between the exit of Water’s Edge and the entrance to Kids Kingdom)

WHY: The NICU Reunion supports activities of the Parent Advisory Council to the Magee NICU. The parent group, composed largely of parents whose children were once NICU babies, focuses on education and comfort for current parents of NICU babies.

The event is presented by Giant Eagle and C. Hackett Motors. Additional sponsors include The Twenty-Five Club of Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC; Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium; Eat ‘n Park; Panera; and Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation.

Note to Media: Enter through the Zoo Education Complex located at 1 Wild Place.  Zoo personnel Kristie or Rachel will escort you to the PNC Pavilion.
