UPMC Recognized on U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Hospitals’ Honor Roll for 16th Time
U.S. News analyzed 4,716 medical centers nationwide, but only those that achieved high scores in six or more specialties were included in the distinguished Honor Roll group, comprising 15 hospitals this year.
“We are very proud that UPMC was recognized for the 16th year on the Honor Roll as one of the nation’s best hospitals. Most importantly, by choosing us every day, our patients recognize that our exceptional staff is committed to providing high-quality care and a superb patient experience,” said Leslie C. Davis
, senior vice president of UPMC, and executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Health Services Division.
Nationally, UPMC is ranked for excellence in 14 of 16 specialty areas, and is among the top 10 hospitals in six specialties: ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; gynecology; orthopaedics; psychiatry; and rheumatology. Scores were based on a variety of factors, including hospital volume, patient safety, outcomes, and reputation for delivering high-quality care.
“We are grateful to receive this national distinction, which validates UPMC’s unique combination of world-renowned medical care, a top health insurance plan, and close affiliation with one of the best medical schools in the country, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine,” added Steven Shapiro, M.D.
, executive vice president and chief medical and scientific officer at UPMC and president of the Health Services Division.
