Enhancing Operations and Accessibility of Diagnostic Services for Wilmington Area Residents
NEW CASTLE, Pa., July 21, 2016 – Beginning Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, UPMC Outpatient Center – New Wilmington will be open for service. Laboratory and x-ray services provided at UPMC Jameson New Wilmington Community Health Center, 138 South Market Street, New Wilmington, will relocate to UPMC Outpatient Center – New Wilmington, formerly UPMC Horizon Diagnostics, 3438 PA-208, New Wilmington.
“We are pleased to combine the strengths of the two New Wilmington diagnostic services locations,” said Doug Danko, president, UPMC Jameson. “This consolidation will improve patient care. It will enhance operations through consistent and extended facility hours serviced by the combined clinical care teams of UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon. The same familiar faces of the UPMC Jameson New Wilmington Community Health Center will join the teams at UPMC Outpatient Center – New Wilmington, which is located one mile from the UPMC Jameson New Wilmington location.”
Hours of operation for UPMC Outpatient Center – New Wilmington are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“In addition to greater service accessibility, the combined staffing will provide improved efficiencies keeping our patients’ time and convenience top of mind,” Danko added.
UPMC Outpatient Center (UPMC Horizon Diagnostics) is a modern facility with high-quality laboratory and digital x-ray services and is located one mile from the UPMC Jameson New Wilmington Community Health Center location.
“It has always been our priority to preserve local access to important diagnostic services for the New Wilmington population including its Amish communities,” said Steve Warner, a Wilmington area resident and chairman, UPMC Jameson and UPMC Horizon Boards of Directors. “We will work closely with the Amish community to ensure a seamless transition to this consolidated community location for diagnostic health care services.”
A future use of the UPMC Jameson New Wilmington Community Health Center facility is being considered and has not yet been determined. “UPMC Jameson recognizes the value of this facility to the New Wilmington community because it is situated in the heart of town and is a common gathering place for community events,” said Warner. “UPMC Jameson administration will work closely with the Borough of New Wilmington as information is gathered and decisions are made.”
In addition to UPMC Outpatient Center – New Wilmington, residents of New Wilmington and its surrounding communities may utilize any UPMC diagnostic services location, such as the conveniently located UPMC Jameson College Fields, 130 Enclave Drive, Neshannock Township.
Patients are invited to attend a weeklong Welcome Reception at UPMC Outpatient Center– New Wilmington from Monday, Aug. 8 through Friday, Aug. 12 during service hours. Complimentary Apple Castle donuts, cider, and apples will be served.
