UPMC Mercy Hosts Wheelchair Wash and Tune-Up Event
WHAT: UPMC Mercy
is hosting its 7th annual Wheelchair Wash and Tune-Up event. Volunteers from the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute
and local vendors will be onsite to wash and perform minor repairs, as well as evaluate potential problems with the wheelchairs.
Wheelchair maintenance is important to ensure the safety of wheelchair users. Event attendees can participate in a free wheelchair-skills clinic obstacle course and visit a special display of the Tankchair®
, a motorized chair designed for navigating the outdoors. The AbleGamers
charity also will be displaying the work they do to provide custom gaming setups for people with disabilities.
