WHAT: IBD U.N.I.T.E. (Unify, Network, Inspire, Treat, Educate) is an annual UPMC education program for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients, their families and loved ones. This free virtual seminar will include a panel of IBD experts to provide information about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in this population, behavioral health interventions and new treatments. 

 

WHY: An estimated three million Americas were diagnosed with IBD, a condition that causes inflammation of the intestine. IBD is a collection of chronic conditions including Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. The UPMC Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center has one of the largest IBD-subspecialist gastroenterologist teams in the nation and recognizes the impact IBD symptoms can have on a patient’s quality of life.

 

WHO:

 

  • IBD experts including physicians, medical professionals and patients will participate in panel discussions.
  • Adults and teens dealing with IBD, as well as their families and loved ones, should attend.

 

WHEN: 9:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 13
