UPMC Passavant Offers Free Non-Invasive Colon Cancer Screenings
WHAT: UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Passavant
will offer a non-invasive colon cancer screening program. The free screenings will include a “FIT” test kit (a more sensitive/easier stool test), bone density and blood pressure testing. In addition, healthy lifestyle education information will be available, including smoking cessation, nutrition and cancer prevention, as well as “Ask the Pharmacist.”
You qualify if you:
• Are 50 to 75 years of age.
• Have never had a colonoscopy, or have not had one in several years.
• Have any type of health insurance or have no health insurance.
*Pre-registration is required and must be completed by March 15. To register, contact Clinical Education Specialist Kathleen Bryte at 412-748-5762.
Each year, American Cancer Society
statistics estimate 140,250 colon and rectal cancers are diagnosed in the United States. Colorectal cancer
is the 2nd leading cancer killer in the U.S., but colon screenings can detect cancer at an earlier stage when it may be more treatable. According to the Centers for Disease Control
, if everyone 50 years of age or older had regular screenings, at least 60% of deaths from this cancer could be avoided.
WHEN: *By appointment only, Saturday, March 17, 2018
WHERE: UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Passavant, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, 15237.
