Rodney J. Landreneau, MD

Dr. Landreneau is board-certified in thoracic surgery (thoracic and cardio-vascular surgery). He is a native of south Louisiana where he received an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He then completed his medical education at Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. Dr. Landreneau completed residency in general surgery at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and completed residency in thoracic surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Dr. Landreneau is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Surgical Association, the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

He has authored more than 350 scientific peer reviewed clinical journal articles on minimally invasive surgical and thoracic and esophageal oncologic topics. He is a leading thoracic oncologic clinical investigator with the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG). Prior to joining UPMC Cancer Centers in 2002, he served as director of the Allegheny Center for Lung and Thoracic Diseases and the director of the Minimally Invasive Surgical Program at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
