Dr. Ranalli’s clinical and research interests focus on pediatric dentistry, cleft palate, sports dentistry and the effects of smokeless tobacco.

Dr. Ranalli also is a consultant to the UPMC Sports Medicine program and team dentist for the Pittsburgh Panthers football, wrestling and women’s basketball teams.

Among Dr. Ranalli’s many honors are appointments to fellowship in the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Society of Dentistry for Children (ASDC) and Academy for Sports Dentistry (ASD). He received the Pennsylvania Society of Dentistry for Children’s (PSDC) Award of Excellence, the Pennsylvania Dental Association’s Recognition Award and the ASD’s Distinguished Member Award.

He served as president of the Western Pennsylvania Society of Dentistry for Children, ASDC, ASD, PSDC and the Supreme Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Dr. Ranalli received his dental degree from Temple University in 1972. He then earned a certificate in pediatric dentistry in 1981 and master’s degree in dental science in 1982, both from the University of Pittsburgh.
