Holly Lorenz, R.N., M.S.N.

Holly Lorenz is the Chief Nurse Executive of UPMC with responsibility for establishing and leading the strategic vision for more than 18,000 nurses. Ms. Lorenz has oversight for nursing practice for more than 39 academic, community, specialty and international hospitals, and the 600 outpatient sites, rehabilitation and long-term care facilities. Ms. Lorenz has several leadership roles within the service line management at UPMC.

Ms. Lorenz has presented locally, regionally and internationally on financial management in health care, models of interprofessional care, evidence-based approaches to patient safety, as well as quality and nursing leadership. Holly is the associate dean for clinical relations, office of the dean, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She also is a Wharton Fellow for Nurse Executives and a certified facilitator and educator for Development Dimensions International. Additional honors include being named to the 2015 University of Pittsburgh Nursing Honorary Alumni and a nominee for the Nightingale Award of Pennsylvania for Nursing Administration. Ms. Lorenz was named one of the “60+ hospital and health system CNOs to know – 2017” by Becker’s Hospital Review.

Ms. Lorenz shares her vast knowledge and expertise in nursing leadership as a member on several influential boards. Being an inaugural member of the Pennsylvania Action Coalition State Steering Committee and Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Action Coalition allows Ms. Lorenz to advance nursing education and practice in the state of Pennsylvania. Additionally, she is active on the Duquesne University School of Nursing and Capella University Advisory Boards, Family House Executive Board, Carlow University Trustee, as well as numerous UPMC Boards. Ms. Lorenz is past president of the Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Executives.
