Johnathan A. Engh, MD

Dr. Engh is board certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He specializes in the multi-modality management of brain and spinal tumors and has expertise in Neuroendoport surgery, a minimally invasive technique pioneered by surgeons at UPMC for the extraction of brain tumors. Additionally, his work also focuses on the management of colloid cysts, intraventricular tumors, gliomas, metastases, intra-operative cortical mapping, microscopic tumor resection, and stereotactic radiosurgery using both the Cyberknife and Gamma Knife systems.

His primary research interests are the development of minimally invasive tools for cranial surgery as well as percutaneous intracerebral navigation with steerable needles and white matter imaging of the brain.

Dr. Engh received his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his residency in neurological surgery as well as a neurosurgical oncology fellowship at UPMC. Dr. Engh is a member of several professional associations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. ​
