UPMC’s Dr. James Bradley Named Member Of The American Orthopedic Association

PITTSBURGH, October 19, 2005 — James P. Bradley, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon at UPMC St. Margaret and head team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was named as an active member of The American Orthopedic Association (AOA) at its recent annual meeting.

Membership into the AOA signifies honor and accomplishment in orthopedics as well as commitment to active leadership in the specialty. AOA members work to expand an already prestigious list of contributions that benefit the entire orthopedic community.

Dr. Bradley specializes in orthopedic sports medicine and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. Dr. Bradley has been head team physician for the Steelers since 1991, is a former president of the National Football League (NFL) Physicians Society and serves on the NFL Injury and Safety Panel. He is a clinical associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Bradley graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in science where he was a co-captain of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team and winner of the 1975 Dapper Dan College Football Award. Following graduation from Penn State in 1975, he earned a medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He then completed general residency training at the University of Tennessee and orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Pittsburgh before completing sports medicine fellowship training at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He is a native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and currently lives in the Fox Chapel area of Pittsburgh.
