UPMC, Local Artists present ‘The Art of Breast Reconstruction’ at Andy Warhol Museum

WHAT: Auction of the mannequin busts artistically rendered by local artists to honor Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day Pittsburgh 2013.
WHY: Nationally, less than a quarter of the women undergoing breast cancer-related surgeries are fully aware of their breast reconstruction options or the quality of the surgical outcomes they can expect. UPMC and local artists are collaborating with displays of these artistically rendered mannequin busts at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, the Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Passavant.
The mannequins, decorated by local artists including Alix Paul, Jim West, Katy Dement and Sandy Kessler, will be auctioned. Proceeds from the event will help to raise awareness and promote education for breast reconstruction.
