Wheelchair Users Encouraged to Attend Wash and Tune-Up Event at UPMC Mercy/Rehabilitation Institute

WHAT: 5th Annual Wheelchair Wash & Tune-Up
WHO: Anyone regularly using a wheelchair is invited to the event hosted by UPMC Mercy and the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute Spinal Cord Injury Peer Support Group. The group is headed by Bryan McCormick, National Spinal Cord Association of Pittsburgh, and Lee Tempest, University of Pittsburgh Model Center for Spinal Cord Injury.
WHEN: 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015
WHERE: Stevenson Street parking lot, patio and Clark Auditorium, on the west side of UPMC Mercy
• An exhibition of the all-terrain power wheelchair known as the Tankchair.
• Mercy and Rehabilitation Institute staff plus volunteers will wash and shine both manual and power wheelchairs, and local vendors will complete some minor repairs and chair evaluations at no cost.
• The SCI Peer Support Group allows people with spinal cord injuries to connect, share and rejuvenate.
