UPMC Physicians Again are ‘Best Doctors’ in Pittsburgh Magazine Annual Survey

PITTSBURGH, April 28– UPMC physicians make up 75 percent of the Pittsburgh Magazine annual listing of Best Doctors, published in its May issue, available on newsstands now. The list is a selection of the region’s top physicians compiled by Best Doctors of America Inc.
Of the 668 doctors named, more than 500 are UPMC doctors across 74 areas of expertise. Only those physicians who earn the consensus support of their peers and who meet additional qualifications are included, comprising only 5 percent of doctors in the U.S.
“Once again, this independent validation of so many UPMC physicians as Best Doctors reinforces the pride that we have in our devoted medical staff, who deliver the finest and most advanced care to our patients,” said Steven D. Shapiro, M.D., executive vice president, chief medical and scientific officer and president Health Services Division, UPMC.
