Rehabilitation at the Edge of Discovery.

The UPMC Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (IRR) combines clinical care and research to benefit patients with a variety of rehabilitation needs. One of the leading rehabilitation programs of its kind in the country, the IRR offers innovative therapies, state-of-the-art technology, and high-quality
medical care.

Thousands of patients look toward specialized rehabilitation services at UPMC every year to regain independence and enhance their quality of life. Whether a patient needs inpatient acute rehabilitation care at one of our seven facilities, or outpatient services by a physician or a physical, occupational, or speech therapist, the IRR has the services to match. Our experts treat a variety of diseases and conditions, including brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, pain, amputation, and joint replacement.

Research plays a very important role in the mission of the IRR. The IRR focuses its research where there is the greatest need and the great potential to increase and enhance recovery and quality of life for our patients.

The clinicians at the IRR are making a difference — daily — in the lives of people with disabilities. Lend your support to the IRR.
