Nearly one in four adults in the United States is a long-term caregiver for an older spouse, relative, or friend.

Older adults are increasingly being cared for by family or friends at home due to:

  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Limitations in insurance coverage
  • Shrinking financial resources

UPMC Senior Services and its partners recognize the increasing responsibilities assumed by caregivers, new roles that they are often unprepared to assume.

Our educational efforts address the needs of caregivers and provide educational programs to build awareness and understanding of many challenges that accompany aging.
