Programs and Services for Children with Autism

UPMC Content 3

Early intesive behavioral intervention is important for children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Our continuum of care begins with children as young as 18 months.

Our high-quality programs and services are specially designed to treat the developmental needs of each child and his or her family.

National and International Recognition

The Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders (CADD), and our physicians and staff have attained national and international recognition for educational, clinical and research activities.

CADD is one of 20 national locations of the Autism Treatment Network and was recently awarded a two year grant to continue as a Network site. CADD also serves as western Pennsylvania’s Regional Autism, Services, Education, Resources and Training Center (ASERT).

The CADD Inpatient Unit recently received a three-year national accreditation from the National Association on Dual Diagnosis (NADD).

The CADD Inpatient Unit for children and adolescents was selected to join the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Inpatient Research Collaborative, a national effort of six specialized inpatient units, to develop best practice pathways for assessment and treatment with initial support from the Simons Foundation and the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation.
