Am I A Candidate?
Most people who want to remove unwanted hair can have waxing done. For some people, hereditary conditions, hormonal levels, medications, and illnesses stimulate hair growth, and this is a good short-term solution.
Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long for successful waxing.
Skin should be free of inflammation or irritation, such as sunburn, at the time of waxing to avoid damage to the area.
What to Expect During the Procedure
A gentle melted wax that is specially formulated for the skin is applied to areas of unwanted hair in the direction of hair growth. We use a gentle wax that is suitable for most Retin-A users. Once the wax is cool and hardened, it is pulled in the opposite direction of the hair growth, removing the hair.
Most people feel a mild to medium discomfort that they find tolerable.
The waxed area will remain hair-free for a longer period of time than shaving, generally two to six weeks. Regrowth is often softer in areas that are repeatedly waxed over long periods of time. Regular and consistent waxing can leave the area hair-free for up to two months. Follow the esthetician’s suggestion about length of time between waxing appointments to achieve optimal results.
Avoid sun exposure to the freshly waxed area for 24 to 48 hours before and 24 hours after waxing.
