Our Technology and Expertise

Our surgeons have particular expertise in procedures such as esophagogastrectomy, total gastrectomy, radical pancreatoduodenectomy, distal pancreatectomy, and small bowel resection. We also have helped to develop or refine many minimally-invasive surgical options, including:

• Laparoscopic colon resection
• Laparoscopic adrenalectomy
• Laparoscopic pancreatectomy
• Laparoscopic splenectomy
• Sphincter-sparing surgery for low cancers
• Laparoscopic gastrectomy

Cancer patients are evaluated for the newest treatment options available through the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, including cancer vaccine trials, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy to insure the highest rate of success.

Our surgeons also are skilled in surgically treating other gastrointestinal diseases with emphasis on inflammatory bowel disease.
