​Dr. Hughes Receives Physician Award

Trinity Health System in Steubenville, Oh., named Thomas B. Hughes, Jr., MD, Physician of the Month for June 2014. Winners are chosen based on positive patient feedback and votes from colleagues. Trinity Health System officials presented Dr. Hughes with a commemorative plaque during a surprise ceremony organized by the Orthopaedic Specialists—UPMC staff.

In addition to the Steubenville office, Dr. Hughes sees patients at the Monroeville, Moon Township, UPMC Passavant, and South Side locations. He specializes in carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder and elbow conditions, treatment of rotator cuff injuries, shoulder-joint replacement, and upper-extremity surgery. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, he completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Allegheny General Hospital and a fellowship in hand, upper-extremity, and microvascular surgery at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Dr. Hughes is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery. He holds leadership posts with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association for Hand Surgery, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
