Palliative Care Services for Patients, Families, and Caregivers

The UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute supports doctors, nurses, and other professionals who collaborate to offer compassionate, comprehensive care in outpatient clinics, in nursing facilities, in hospitals, and in other settings.

A Full Spectrum of Physical, Emotional, and Other Support Services

Through the UPMC Palliative and Supportive Institute, our health care professionals are able to provide the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social support that can make recovery or living with serious illness less stressful.

We seek to manage the suffering that comes from uncertainty and pain when an illness is affecting the quality of the patient's life. Our care also extends beyond the patient's life, to his or her family members, caregivers, and health care providers, through our supportive services.
